Any high school student with a passion for music, healthcare, and community service can join! We welcome all instruments and skill levels, whether you’re a seasoned performer or just starting out. We strive to provide a platform for rising musicians to improve their skills and gain confidence through volunteering.
Volunteers perform live music at hospitals, nursing homes, and/or community events, using their musical talents to make a lasting positive impact in the community. They also get to collaborate with like-minded peers, develop leadership/teamwork skills, mentor new volunteers, and create meaningful connections with patients and residents.
At MusicMed, volunteers get to create a schedule that works best for them, whether that’s weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly performances. Each session usually lasts about an hour and happens at the same time and healthcare facility. In addition to these regular sessions, we also host special concert-style performances where you can team up with other musicians and be part of something bigger.
Within a few days, you’ll receive an acceptance email from us along with the MusicMed Musician Volunteer Guide, which includes everything you need to know as a volunteer. From there, we’ll help you find a schedule that works best for you and connect you with experienced volunteers for guidance. Then the fun begins—you’ll be ready to share your music and brighten someone’s day!
Normally, MusicMed volunteers commit to weekly or bi-weekly performances. On top of that, there are occasional large-scale concert-style performances that you can sign up for.
However, we offer flexible scheduling that accommodates each volunteer's unique school and extracurricular commitments, so we will coordinate with you to find a volunteer plan that works for you!
Absolutely! Volunteers are encouraged to share the music they love, which includes their own original compositions. MusicMed provides a platform to not only showcase your musical talents but also highlight your creativity as a composer.
